Senior Adults: Governor’s Residence Tour

Loading Events

All senior adults are invited for this special outing to the Governor’s residence!

Tennessee’s Executive Residence, a classic example of stately Georgian architecture, was originally known as “Far Hills” because of the beautiful view from the home’s 10-acre site. The three-story, 16-room home was built for businessman William Ridley Wills, the founder of National Life and Accident Insurance Company, and completed in 1931. The property became the Volunteer State’s official governor’s home when the state purchased it in 1949 following Wills’ death. To date, ten governors and their families have lived and worked in the Tennessee Residence.

TOUR INFO
The tour is limited to 30 people and will begin at 10 a.m. at the residence 882 Curtiswood Lane, Nashville.

To make it a pleasant experience for everyone, a 24-passenger bus has been chartered to take most of our group to the residence. If you wish to travel by bus, arrive at the front parking lot of Christ Community church by 9 a.m. The bus will depart promptly at 9:15 a.m. Parking is limited at the residence so carpooling for those choosing to drive themselves is recommended.

A lunch at Corkey’s is planned after the tour for those riding the bus and those driving themselves. The only cost for the event is your meal at the restaurant.

The deadline for receiving reservations for the tour and the bus is May 15.
Please email John Fuller at [email protected] to sign up. Please indicate if you are coming and also if you wish to ride on the bus.
