DIRECTOR OF MUSTARD SEED PRESCHOOL

Job Description

Primary Function:  MSP Director’s role is to build and maintain a preschool program serving children ages 3 to 5 years old and their families. Mustard Seed Preschool’s mission is to provide preschoolers with a developmentally appropriate education that is biblically based and committed to the content of the covenant and to covenant life in the church. To this end, MSP has 4 distinctives: 1) Biblical Worldview 2) Grace Based Principles 3) Classical Education and 4) Encouragement of Diversity.

Qualifications:

  1. Education – Bachelor’s degree in field related to education, child development, or related field; advanced education, while not necessary, is preferred.
  2. Experience – Minimum of three years working with children in a school setting, or other venues.
  3. Spiritual – Must be a professing Christian with a true calling and passion for ministry. Must be able to affirm the Apostle’s Creed. The Confessional Standard of our church is the Westminster Confession of Faith. We would ask our applicants to read and concur with chapters 1, 2, 8, 11-17, and 27-29 (see attachment here). Membership or a desire to become a member of Christ Community Church strongly preferred.

Reports to: Director of Children’s Ministry at Christ Community Church

Areas of Responsibility include:

Administration: Writing Policies and procedures, overseeing Assistant Director’s role in the registration process, giving tours as needed, acting as a liaison between the school and the church.

Daily Operation: Running daily staff prayer meetings, all school devotions, handling discipline needs, conducting parent meetings, running daily dismissal, coordinating special events.

Supervision and Personnel: Hiring and training new staff, monthly staff meetings, staff evaluations, goal setting, and overseeing teacher observations and annual reviews, coordinating volunteer base with the help of the Friends of MSP chairperson.

Curriculum and Instruction: Overseeing Curriculum Coordinator and ensuring the quality of all curriculum and instruction.

Maintaining State Licensure: Keeping abreast of new licensure rules and regulations and ensuring that the school is following these.

Facilities and Safety: Ensuring a safe environment and working with C3 Facilities to coordinate any needed repairs, strategic planning for future equipment needs.

Financial: Developing and overseeing the annual budget and ensuring that it is followed, handling bi-weekly payroll and staff time sheets.

Marketing and Development: Overseeing the MSP website, social media and promotional materials, fundraising for the scholarship fund and helping the Advisory Board Finance Team make the awards each Spring.

Compensation: This is a salaried ten-month position with limited benefits, requiring 39 hours per week. Salary is commensurate with experience.

MUSTARD SEED PRESCHOOL CURRICULUM COORDINATOR

Job Description

Primary Function:  MSP’s Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for the planning and oversight of the curriculum used to teach students and to train staff. Mustard Seed Preschool’s mission is to provide preschoolers with a developmentally appropriate education that is biblically based and committed to the content of the covenant and to covenant life in the church. To this end, MSP has 4 distinctives: 1) Biblical Worldview 2) Grace Based Principles 3) Classical Education and 4) Encouragement of Diversity.

Director Support: When necessary, lead all school devotions, handle disciplinary needs and staff concerns

Daily Operation: Participate in drop off and dismissal, interface with parents dropping off forgotten items, picking up sick children, etc…

Supervision and Personnel: Assist with new staff training, planning and implementation of monthly staff meetings, teacher observations and annual reviews. Under the supervision of the Director, plan and run fall teacher training.

Curriculum and Instruction: Overseeing Discovery Time Lead staff, obtaining curriculum materials and ensuring their quality.

Maintaining State Licensure: In conjunction with the Assistant Director, understand the training requirements for all staff, coordinate appropriate training opportunities, and document training hours in staff files.

Communication: Compile weekly staff newsletter and review classroom newsletters as needed

Compensation: This is a part-time, 10-month, salaried position, requiring 25 hours per week. Salary is commensurate with experience.
